Empowering Immigrants in Scarborough
Nurturing the Dreams of Newcomers in Scarborough
At ACSA Community Services, we are deeply committed to welcoming, supporting, and empowering immigrants and newcomers in Scarborough. Our vibrant city thrives on the diversity of its inhabitants and we are proud to help newcomers integrate smoothly and become active participants in our local community. But, we can't do it alone. We need your help. Donate today and make a tangible difference in the lives of newcomers in our community
Addressing the Challenges Newcomers Face
Despite the potential and promise that newcomers bring, they often face significant challenges, from language barriers and cultural adjustments to finding employment and establishing social networks. According to a recent United Way report, immigrants are more likely to experience poverty compared to long-term residents. They also face higher unemployment rates and are more likely to work in low-wage jobs.
ACSA's Newcomer Supports: Making a Difference
At ACSA, we provide comprehensive newcomer supports to address these challenges and create a more equitable society. Our programs include language classes, employment support, social events to foster community connections, and guidance in navigating Canadian systems and institutions.
Supporting Families, Children, and Youth in Scarborough
Investing in the Future: Our Children, Our Youth, Our Families
The future of any community lies in the wellbeing of its children and families. At ACSA, we are dedicated to providing essential supports for children, youth, and families in Scarborough. In a city as vibrant and diverse as ours, ensuring every child and every family has the opportunity to succeed is not just a responsibility, but a privilege.
The Stark Reality of Poverty
The hardships of poverty are difficult for anyone, but for children and families, the impacts can be particularly profound. With over hundreds of children in our neighborhoods living in low-income households and many families living in poverty, the need for support is urgent and crucial. These families are not statistics - they are our neighbors, our friends, and our future.
ACSA's Child, Youth, and Family Supports: Transforming Lives
Our wide-ranging programs are designed to holistically support children and families in our community. From educational support and after-school programs for children to parenting workshops and employment assistance for families, we aim to uplift every individual and foster resilience.

Alleviating Hunger, One Meal at a Time

The Food Insecurity Crisis in Scarborough
In Scarborough, many are struggling to meet the record-breaking inflation rates. The cost of groceries alone has risen by 10.8% in the past year. This isn't just a statistic, it's a heartbreaking reality for thousands of our neighbours, many of whom are children. This crisis affects health, hampers child development, and prevents people from reaching their full potential.
Serving Hope on a Plate

Housing insecurity is an alarming issue in Scarborough. An increasing number of residents are facing "renovictions" or other housing challenges ranging from lack of repairs, infestations, mold. or more.
