Peer to Peer Fundraising

Empower your Community Today!

A peer-to-peer fundraiser is a fun and easy way to support ACSA’s work by getting your friends, family, and coworkers involved. Instead of just donating, you become a fundraiser yourself—sharing ACSA’s mission of building strong, inclusive communities with your personal network and asking them to join the cause.

Think of it like this: You’re passionate about making a difference in your community, and now you get to invite others to join you! Here are some ideas to get you started:

Peer to Peer Fundraising

  • Dishes & Donations

    A Potluck Donation for ACSA

Food brings us together. So does community action.

ACSA is built on the idea of community, and nothing says community like sharing food. Dishes and Donations is a potluck-style event where neighbors, friends, and families gather to celebrate our community’s cultural diversity through food while raising funds to support ACSA’s impactful programs.

    Here’s how it works:
    - Bring a dish and a donation: Everyone contributes a dish that has personal or cultural significance, along with a financial donation to ACSA.

    - Host it anywhere: Host your event at home or in a community space. Businesses can sponsor, donate food, or provide prizes.

    - Host it anytime: You can host your potluck on one specific day, or even have it as an annual or monthly tradition!

  • Peer to peer idea: Step Up for Scarborough

A step challenge fundraiser for ACSA

Small steps can lead to big change.

Walking together creates a healthier community—and a better future for Scarborough and beyond. In Step Up for Scarborough, participants take part in a step challenge while raising funds to support ACSA’s essential services.

    How It Works

    - Get a group together: Invite your friends, family, and coworkers to challenge themselves to meet a step goal every day for a full month. Participants show their commitment to their goal by donating to ACSA to enter the challenge.

    - Set your personal and group goal: Each participant will set their own personal step goal, and collectively you will try to reach your target number of steps by the end of the month.

    - Create a group chat and report your steps each day: Create a group chat on WhatsApp or through your workplace channels, and report the number of steps you’ve reached each day. The group leader will track this on a spreadsheet and keep everyone up to date on progress.

    - Spread the word and raise more funds: Share your progress with your friends or family on social media and ask for donations to support your progress. Get people to cheer you on!

  • Bringing It All Together: Virtual Food Drives

Help us stock our shelves without leaving your home.

In addition to community events, you can support ACSA by hosting or participating in a Virtual Food Drive. Individuals, workplaces, and schools can raise funds to help us purchase the specific items we need to stock our food bank shelves efficiently.

    Why Virtual Drives Matter

Traditional food drives are generous, but often leave gaps in critical supplies. With a virtual food drive, we can:

Buy exactly what we need, including culturally relevant food items.

    Eliminate transportation logistics for donors.

Ensure year-round access to essential supplies.

Each of these campaigns offers a chance to come together, support your neighbors, and drive real change. Whether through food, steps, or fundraising, your participation ensures that ACSA can continue to advocate for those in need. Together, we can build a stronger community.
